Effective immediately, all children under the age of sixteen (16) will be required to be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult in order to be admitted to athletic events. While children and students do not have to sit directly with their accompanying adult, the adult must remain present on school grounds for the duration of the event.
This policy is being implemented to promote a safer and more orderly environment for all attendees. Recent incidents have highlighted the need for increased supervision of younger students during athletic events. By requiring an adult to be responsible for the students they bring, we aim to reduce disruptive behavior, ensure safety, and create a more positive experience for our athletes, students, and community members.
This Policy will go into effect on September 8th, 2025

Statement Regarding Incident at Football Scrimmage
At Friday evening’s scrimmage between Frankfort Community High School and Johnston City High School at Johnson Field in West Frankfort, those in attendance may have observed an individual being removed by officers from the West Frankfort Police Department. District administrators had been informed of a juvenile who might have a weapon. The juvenile was quickly located and it was determined that he had an airsoft gun in his possession. The WFPD then removed him from the scene. The juvenile was not a student of Frankfort Community High School nor Johnston City High School.
We thank our vigilant students, school administration and staff, and WFPD officers for helping to identify and resolve this situation quickly and safely. Administrators from West Frankfort and Johnston City have been in communication with each other regarding what was an isolated incident. As we keep our friends in Kentucky in the Mayfield and Graves County school communities in our thoughts after an incident at their football game this evening, we will continue to work to keep our students and the public safe so they can enjoy events like tonight’s meet the team activities and scrimmage.

Thanks to some additional sharp-eyed proofreaders, there is an August 12 update to the Parent-Student Handbook that is now posted on the District's websites. There were no policy changes, just some clean up of some grammar and wording. Thanks for those who have read and assisted us in this project.

All school buses should now be on their way home as it was a little slow going on this first day of school. Bus and car traffic should smooth out the next few days as everyone gets used to the new routine and we work to keep traffic moving on the side streets around the schools. Please remember to not leave our cars unattended in the loading zones. We will see you all tomorrow.
